Financial Vulnerability Case Study

Financial Vulnerability Case Study

Rosemah is a widow and lives alone. She has no children and since her husband died last year she has had little contact with friends. Rosemah’s mood is very low and she will often spend all day in bed.

When Rosemah’s husband was alive he dealt with all the bills and she has found it overwhelming since his death. Rosemah has missed several payments for her gas and electricity and has not responded to the various letters that they have sent her. They have tried calling Rosemah but she does not pick up the phone.

Rosemah is clearly financially vulnerable as a result of the death of her husband. A financial vulnerability assessment would identify this along with the causes. This information would then enable her utility providers and others to support Rosemah until she was able to manage independently and thereby avoid a worse case scenario.
