Mental Capacity Assessments - Contingency Plan for Coronavirus

Following the recent COVID-19 updates from the UK government, we wanted to share the latest plans we have in place to ensure continued delivery of service and the protection of your clients and our team.

  1. Following guidance from The Honourable Mr Justice Hayden, Vice President of the Court of Protection, we have put in measures to protect your clients and our Assessors. Therefore, where possible, all TSF assessments will happen remotely for the foreseeable future. We have now started these remote assessments of mental capacity, having completed several successfully over the weekend. So, in most cases, if your client is self-isolating or in ‘lockdown’, as long as they have access to a smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer with webcam, we can assess them.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  These remote assessment slots WILL fill up fast so please call us on 0333 577 7020 at your earliest convenience to enable us to allocate an assessment time for your client.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    
  2. All our Head Office team are now working remotely from home. We anticipate that this will have minimal impact upon our service but please bear with us through this transition.                                                                                                                                                                                            
  3. We are also looking at other ways to reduce the potential exposure of the virus to our team. We would therefore like to request that no letters of instruction are sent to us in the post and, if possible, payments are made through one of our payment mediums such as BACS, PayPal or debit/credit card over the telephone rather than by cheque. Please contact us for more details.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                
  4. We are also aware that over the coming weeks, we could see delays with the post and getting signed copies of reports or other documentation to you. With this in mind, we have taken the decision to implement a system of electronic signatures for our reports and will send you a digital copy, with the expectation that a hard copy will follow.
