#1 Introduction to Mental Capacity – presented by Tim Farmer

  • Understand the importance of the individual and keeping them at the centre of the assessment process
  • Have an understanding of the Mental Capacity Act (2005)
  • Understand the 5 principles of the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and how to apply them in practice
  • Understand the ‘2-stage test’ as an assessment framework and how to apply it

#2 Threshold of Understanding & Fluctuating Capacity – presented by Tim Farmer

  • Know how to apply the CMSL model and set the threshold of understanding
  • Understand why setting it at the right level is so important

#4 Assessing Capacity Virtually – presented by Tim Farmer

  • Understand the relationship between the assessment medium and the assessment process
  • Understand what you need to do in terms of planning and preparation prior to a remote assessment, during the assessment and after the assessment
  • Understand how to conduct an assessment via remote video-link
  • Learn some practical tips and how and when to apply them.

Webinar Training - Bespoke

We also offer bespoke training aimed at individual companies or groups. These are currently only offered as webinars, but when able to, we also offer face to face training.

These webinars are booked on your preferred date, and are tailored to the topics of your choice and length of training required (1-4 hours).

Topics covered include, but are not limited to:

  • Introduction to Mental Capacity
  • Threshold of Understanding
  • Communication and Supported Decision-Making
  • Assessing Mental Capacity Virtually

  • Detailed Capacity Assessment type, such as such as mental capacity to:

Please note: we do not currently train individuals to become a Mental Capacity Assessor, but we are looking to introduce this in 2021.

We provide interesting and informative sessions, using case law, case studies to give context and practical tips.  Our training can be used for CPD purposes, and we provide certification as required.
